I will begin by saying that I am not one of those people who believe in aging gracefully. Mba nu! I don’t like getting old, and I hate that the figures in my age keep getting bigger and bigger. I lie about my age whenever I can, and for the last couple years, I have told folks that I am 21. Well, that is technically true, since every birthday past 21 has been the celebration of the anniversary of my 21st, or its been a “21+__” event, with the “+__” being silent of course. Yes, that is how badly I do not want to age. I am however, making an exception this year because it is one of those birthdays that everyone considers a milestone. So yes, for this one year only I am going to claim my age. And for those of you who think that you can memorize my age, and try to quote this post when I refuse, I will have a surprise for you! I have said my own oh.
Happy 25th birthday to me. I am usually not overly excited about birthdays, but given that I have been extremely conscious about how short or fickle life is lately, I am going to celebrating this year. More than anything, I am grateful this year for the gift of LIFE!!! Not just for any life, but for the gift of MY life. I want to think that my 25th birthday fell on the day after Easter for a reason. I get to reflect on my life, and begin a new life in Christ through his resurrection and all. The first 25 years of my life have been full of their own trial, tribulations and blessings, and they have definitely molded me into the person I am. Of course, I would not have been able to do all this without all the love, support and chastising from all those who love me especially my darling parents, my sister, my brother, all my aunties and uncles, dear friends, and even total strangers. Every single one of you have contributed into moulding me into the person I am today, some more than others, but either ways, I am immensely grateful for everything you have ever done for me. You all have definitely filled the first 25 years with a load of memories, and I look forward to creating more memories with you for the next 25 years and beyond!
Happy 25th Birthday to me!
